The RILO Foundation Education School System (RIFES)
The RILO Foundation is the youth education wing of the IDEFOCS network. It provides free elementary and Junior High school to the kids of former child soldiers and addiction-affected persons, and has served more than 285 local students annually since the establishment of its Program in 2018.
RIFES is an NGO school that has strong partnerships with Buchanan’s government, private, and religious school systems. Students engage with the community through district-wide spelling bees, civic debate tournaments, and football matches. RIFES provides free meals and uniforms to its students and works with families to ensure children’s safe transportation to school.
All RILO’s teachers are government-licensed educators with a Grade C Teaching Certificate or higher. Each year, all eligible RILO students prepare and sit for the West African Examinations Council (WAEC) standardized tests.
